Event Details

The full day seminar will focus on electrical hazard recognition, prevention and control.  Content will include recognized best practices for establishing and implementing a sound electrical safety program, based on the recommendations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and The National Electrical Code (NEC) Standard NFPA 70E ‘Electrical Safety in the Workplace’.  There will be highlights of the 2018 NFPA 70E standard compared to the 2015 standard.  Electrical hazard recognition, prevention and control are one of the main objectives of the program.

Included are electrical and arc flash safety, including understanding arc flash and the hazards of arc flash. We will also cover fundamental OSHA electrical safety and the OSHA requirements for competent persons for Electrical Safety-Related Work Practices, as found in 1910.331-335. The course will also cover additional selected elements of OSHA’s Electrical Standard for General Industry CFR1910 Subpart S ‘Electrical’.

In addition, we will focus the hazards of electricity and effects of electricity on the human body.  We will also cover electrical tools, appliance and equipment grounding, double insulation, ground-fault circuit interrupters and acceptable use and maintenance of electrical flexible cords. Students will be given two electrical safety quizzes at the conclusion of the course.

Lunch will be provided.

The maximum number of participants has been set so we encourage registering early.  An invoice will be emailed based on the number of participants.  Approximate cost is $90 per person (non-refundable).
